Step 1)  Use the following formula to find a geometric sequence pattern:

 

tn = t1 x r(n-1)

 

Where:

tn = the “nth” term

t1 = is the first term

r = the common ratio growth rate

 

 

Step 2)  Substitute & solve for r:

 

t7 = 2 x r(7-1)

 

1458 = 2r6

/2        /2

 

729 = r6

 

6√729 = 6√r6

 

3 = r

 

 

Step 3)  Now that you have r, find out what the 10th term will be at that rate using substitution again:

 

t10 = t1  x  r(n-1)

 

t10 = 2  x  3(10-1)

 

t10 = 2  x  3(9)

 

t10 = 2  x  19,683

 

t10 = 39,366
