“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”  -Dalai Lama

Many of us have been in this situation.  Laying in bed on a warm summer night trying to drift off to sleep, or maybe on a camping trip in a tent with the sleeping bag zipped all the way up to your nose trying to relax, but you can’t because you are not alone – a predator is lurking in the room with you and if you fall asleep it might get you!

Well, maybe it’s not that dramatic, but it feels like it!  Most likely all you’ll end up with is an itchy red bump that will go away in a couple of days, but that is enough to make it difficult to think about anything else knowing that a mosquito is buzzing around planning its opportune time to pounce.  It is so tiny and you can’t even feel much of anything when it attacks, but the thought of letting it get you is just too much!

Maybe a mosquito isn’t enough to make you lose sleep at night, but what about if you were dozing off and all of a sudden you saw a tiny spider crawling across the ceiling in your direction.  Compared to a human, a spider is so tiny it’s amusing to think that it’s a threat to a human.  Generally speaking, it isn’t.  However, there are certain spiders that, even being as tiny as they are, can kill a human with only one bite!  Do you lay there and fall asleep as you watch it creeping towards you? Of course not!

In the aspect of the world, you may feel like a little spider crawling across the Earth’s floor, but sometimes that’s all you need to get something big to move.
